Francesco Grisi, born and raised in Naples, after his scientific studies decided to pursue his passion: photography. First in Italy, he worked with some Neapolitan photographers, then in 1993 he moved to Paris where he began working with the fashion agency Marilyn Gauthier. After a short time, thanks to his passion for digital images, Francesco started working for Buf Compagnie, that was a start-up at the time and is now a leading company in the VFX industry. During this experience, which began in 1994, he worked first as a compositor and then as a supervisor with directors such as Frederic Planchon, Eric Romer, Michel Gondry, David Fincher, on films such as Fight Club, The Cell, The Lady and the Duke. He also helped open Buf Inc. In 2001 he got married and decided, together with his associate Pasquale Croce, to focus on creating a completely Italian VFX company, trying to revive the limping Italian film market: EDI Effetti Digitali Italiani. In these 22 years of Italian activity, he has collaborated on all the most important Italian films and worked with Oscar winners and internationally renowned directors such as Gabriele Salvatores, Michelangelo Antonioni, Nanni Moretti or national celebrities such as Alessandro D’Alatri, Paolo Virzì, Gabriele Muccino and Matteo Rovere. Francesco’s dream is to export Italian VFX talent all over the world.
