Ed Solomon

FROM 11:30 AM

Ex Convento dell'Annunziata

Ed Solomon began at 19 as a joke-writer and a stand up comedian. While still a student at UCLA, he became a staff writer on the ABC sitcom Laverne and Shirley. He went on to become a staff writer and producer on Showtime’s It’s Garry Shandling’s Show, an early cable hit that was experimental and groundbreaking in its approach to television comedy.
With writing partner Chris Matheson, he wrote the film Bill & Ted’s Excellent Adventure and its sequel, Bill & Ted’s Bogus Journey. The third Bill & Ted movie, “Bill & Ted Face the Music” is in development with a script by Matheson & Solomon and Keanu Reeves and Alex Winter set to reprise their roles.

Ed Solomon will give a lecture “The Inner Process of Writing for Film and TV” and will tell how a script is born, examining its structure and highlighting its salient features. He will dialogue with the public, illustrating the motivations that have determined the creative choices of the characters and the style of a screenplay. It will concretely show some examples of screenplays, leading the public to know the fascinating path of creation and realization. He will also tell about his career and how he came to be a very successful screenwriter in Hollywood. The masterclass will last about two hours with a coffee break of about 15 minutes.
