Current Sea

An environmental thriller that follows journalist Matt Blomberg and activist Paul Ferber in their perilous attempt to create a marine protected area to fight the relentless tide of illegal fishing.

An action-packed documentary about the fight against illegal fishing. Due to extensive overfishing by Vietnamese fishermen and the corruption that allows the black market to flourish, there are almost no fish left along the coast of Cambodia.Frustrated by the authorities’ lack of action, investigative journalist Matt Blomberg and environmental activist Paul Ferber take the issue of protecting the ecological balance into their own hands. We follow them as they attempt to protect a marine conservation area by confronting criminal fishermen at sea. The film also follows two Khmer university students who are among the first of their generation to pursue a career in marine ecology. CURRENT SEA is a documentary thriller who follows the footsteps of SEA OF SHADOWS.
