THE MASTERCLASSES

Every year special Masterclasses, held by internationally renowned professionals, are held alongside the official competition and the new sections and events of the Festival. The Masterclasses give participants a pragmatic view of the professional profiles necessary

for the making of a film, such as: film director, producer, actor, production designer, director of photography, screenwriter, soundtrack composer, costume designer but also agent, distributor, entertainment lawyer, video editor, digital technician, special effects technician and other professions related to cinema.

Cote de Pablo is a Chilean-american actress, known to the general public especially for her participation in the TV series “NCIS”, where, for a dozen seasons, she played the role of Mossad agent ZIVA DAVID: for this role she received, in 2006, the “Imagen Award” award “For the best female interpretation – prize awarded annually to actresses of Latin origin. She also participated in the film “The 33” (2015), a film that tells the miners’ tragedy victim of the Copepo mines disaster, where she plays the role of wife of one of the miners: in the cast, among others, also Antonio Banderas.

Ed Solomon is an American screenwriter, director and film producer. He started his work as a screenwriter writing some episodes of the TV series “Laverne & Shirley”, but he gained popularity with the TV series “Bill & Ted’s Excellent Adventure” and his sequels. Later he established himself as a screenwriter for several successful films: “Men in Black”, “Charlie’s Angel”, “X-Men” and “Now you see me 1 and 2”. He is also the writer of “Mosaic”, directed by Steven Soderbergh, a pioneering “branching narrative” project, realized in two versions: both as IOS / Android mobile app and in the traditional form of television drama. On TV in Italy on January 30, 2018 on Sky Atlantic.

Peter Zeitlinger is one of the most important cinematographers in the international film landscape. During his Masterclass, entitled The Fight Against Mediocracy, Peter will illustrate participants what the role and importance of the cinematographer entails. He will describe the tools and technology that are available to create the photography of a film, interpreting the light and giving coherence to the director’s vision. From page to screen, the director of photography turns the screenplay into images.
